Goa, Surat, Agra, Srinagar, Indore and Kohima are the other six cities.
Corporation commissioner M Prathap will deliver the presentation on three themes — eco rejuvenation of waterbodies, vibrant public spaces and energy efficiency.
The commissioner told TOI under the public space theme, model roads such as RS Puram, DB Road and Race Course will be showcased. “The public have appreciated the facilities on the roads. Various events are also being conducted after blocking the roads on Sundays so that people can claim the space to pursue activities of their choice.”
“Under the eco rejuvenation of waterbodies category, projects implemented at Periyakulam, Valankulam, Krishnampathy, Selvampathy, Kumarasamy, Kurichi and Selvachinthamani lakes will be presented. The projects not only help to protect the lakes, but also to maintain their cleanliness. Moreover, the lakes have become picnic spots for families on weekends and holidays,” he added.
“Under the energy efficiency category, projects taken up for conversion of street lights into smart LED bulbs and installation of two solar power generation units at Ukkadam and Kavundampalayam will be presented. Both the projects have helped the civic body to reduce its electricity consumption.”
